Crayon Leaves {DIY}

Trees in our neck of the woods do not change colors for the fall so I thought it would be fitting to make these and place them through out the house. My original plan was to hang them on a string using clothes pins but I liked so much how they looked just taped to my window instead! Read the rest of this entry »

Cheap and Easy Way to Get Contacts Online without a Prescription {Legally}

I wear contacts and have been wearing them for about 16 or so years now.  The past 10 years my prescription has not changed the slightest bit.  I have been wearing the same focus daily disposables in a -6.00 prescription (I know, I am blind!).  Every year religiously I pay my $120-$150 to get an eye exam, paying my separate fee for a contact lens fitting . . .  with the same result . . . a prescription that has not changed and very healthy eyes.

For someone like me that has a stable prescription, purchasing contacts from time to time without a prescription might be a good option.  While I do see the importance of getting eye exams, I am not against purchasing lenses without a prescription when needed.  In fact, what happened to my mother, is the perfect example of why you need to get eye exams.  You can read about it here.

It is NOT legal for a U.S.  based company to sell or ship contacts to a U.S. address without a prescription. However, it is perfectly legal for a company based outside of the U.S. (not subject to our laws) to ship their products to the states.  When I need contacts without a prescription, I order from the UK based company Lensplanet.  Click the picture below to get FREE SHIPPING and extra savings if you spend over 95 pounds (about $150), or you can order as little as you like and get shipping worldwide for 5 pounds (about $6.00).  You will not be prompted to put in your prescription, just the power you need.

Today, I ordered some contacts for my brother because I wanted to show him how easy it was.  I paid about $24.00 for one box of Acuvue with Hydraclear (6 lenses), so for two boxes my total came to about $56.00 including shipping (this is based on todays conversion rate which is about 1.60 pound to $1) .

Just to compare, if I were to purchase these same exact contacts with a prescription through 1800contacts.com, I would have paid $29.99 per box with a minimum of 4-6 boxes! Don’t forget to add in the cost for your yearly eye exam too.

If you are of good health, know your prescription and it hasn’t changed in years then I say give lensplanet.com a try.  Otherwise, please consult an eye care professional for an eye exam.
